Abstract: Bike caravan from Berlin to St. Petersburg, protesting the G8 summit.
DATE, TIME, PLACE From July 15th on, the G8 summit will take place in St. Petersburg. With a bike caravan from Berlin to St. Petersburg, 20 people from 11 countries show their protest and present alternatives to capitalist globalization.

Background information
From July 15th to 17th, the G8-summit 2006 will be held in St.Petersburg, Russia. But the self-proclaimed "leaders" of the world will not meet alone - protest is prepared. The protest is directed against the heads of state and the politics of destruction and exploitation which they stand for – wars, poverty, pollution, racist migration politics and much more. As a part of this protest the bike caravan is on its way from Berlin to St. Petersburg via Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. It is an opportunity to actively protest against the summit while showing alternatives to the system behind it on the stations we pass. Alternatives mean for example: We use our own human power to travel and find a non-hierarchical and ecological way of living and working together during the tour...
Besides joy of living and knowing that "un otro mundo es possible" (another world is possible), it is a political action and much more than tourism. This means we want to get in touch with many local people and contains information meetings, discussions, actions with local activists, a mobile exposition about g8 and resistance, showing films at the tour and much more...

FAHRRADKARAWANE Berlin - St. Petersburg Juni - Juli 2006
Zusammenfassung: Protest-Fahrradkarawane gegen den G8-Gipfel in St.Petersburg
Daten: Vom 15. bis 17.Juli findet der G8-Gipfel in St. Petersburg statt. 20 Menschen aus 11 verschiedenen Ländern wollen mit einer Fahrradkarawane von Berlin nach St. Petersburg ihren Protest zeigen und Alternativen zur neoliberalen Globalisierung vorstellen.
Am Freitag, 2. Juni, startet die Fahrradkarawane um 16 Uhr in Berlin am Brandenburger Tor (Treffpunkt 15 Uhr) und führt durch die Innenstadt, Treptow und Köpenick zur ersten Station, dem Ökologischen Kulturzentrum Kesselberg in der Nähe von Erkner, südöstlich von Berlin. Unterwegs soll es Stops an Orten mit Bezug zur Politik der G8 geben, u.a. am Abschiebeknast in Berlin-Grünau. Mit dabei sind eine kleine mobile Ausstellung über die kapitalistische Globalisierung, Infomaterialien und mehr.
Am Samstag, 3. Juni, geht es weiter nach Frankfurt (Oder). Dort wird am Abend eine Infoveranstaltung stattfinden.
Hintergrund
Der G8-Gipfel 2006 findet vom 15.bis 17. Juli in St.Petersburg (Russland) statt. Aber die selbsternannten "Herren" der Welt werden sich nicht allein treffen - Proteste sind schon vorbereitet. Der Widerstand vieler Menschen richtet sich gegen die Staatsoberhäupter und die Politik der Zerstörung und Ausbeutung, für die sie stehen - Kriege, Armut, Umweltverschmutzung, rassistische Migrationspolitik und vieles mehr. Als ein Teil dieser Proteste ist die Fahrradkarawane von Berlin über Polen, Litauen, Lettland und Estland unterwegs nach St.Petersburg. Sie ist eine Gelegenheit, dem Gipfel aktiv etwas entgegenzusetzen und Alternativen zum dahinterstehenden System aufzuzeigen. Alternativen heisst zum Beispiel: Wir bewegen uns aus eigener Körperkraft fort und versuchen, während der Tour hierarchiefrei,selbstbestimmt und ökologisch zusammenzuleben.
Neben dem Spaß am Reisen und dem Wissen, dass "un otro mundo es posible" (eine andere Welt möglich ist), ist die Karawane eine politische Aktion und viel mehr als Tourismus. Unterwegs wollen wir mit vielen Leuten vor Ort ins Gespräch kommen, Infoveranstaltungen, Diskussionen und Aktionen mit lokalen AktivistInnen durchführen, eine kleine Ausstellung und Filme über die G8 und den weltweiten Widerstand zeigen und vieles mehr.

Bike caravan against G8 from Berlin to St. Petersburg
On July 15th, the self-proclaimed "Leaders" of the world will meet in St. Petersburg. With the bike caravan, we show our protest against these “Leaders” and the destruction and exploitation which they cause – wars, poverty, pollution, racist migration politics and much more. On the road, we will engage in direct actions, discuss issues of global resistance, local struggles and alternatives to the capitalist/discriminatory/neo-conservative agenda. Traveling without cars and living in solidarity in a non-hierarchical, self-determined way is one manifestation of the alternative living we support and promote.
The bike tour will leave Berlin on june 2nd and go through Frankfurt, Poznan, Torun, Olsztyn, Suwalki (19th of june), Vilnius, Riga, Tartu and Narva to Petersburg (around 7th of july). Beside of cycling, we want to take a smal mobile exposition with us, make local info meetings and political actions like Critical Mass, visits to refugee camps, pickets at nuclear power stations or any other places which have a relation with g8 politics.

Freitag, 2.Juni 06, 15 Uhr Brandenburger Tor (Berlin) (Start 16 Uhr): Critical Mass und Verabschiedung der Anti-G8-Fahrradkarawane nach St. Petersburg
Am 15.Juli treffen sich die selbsternannten "Herren der Welt" in St. Petersburg. Mit der Fahrradkarawane drücken wir unseren Protest aus gegen diese "Herren" und die Zerstörung und Ausbeutung, die sie verursachen - Kriege, Armut, Umweltverschmutzung, rassistische Grenzpolitik etc. Unterwegs wollen wir mit vielen Menschen ins Gespräch kommen über globalen Widerstand und die Kämpfe vor Ort, aber auch Alternativen zu den herrschenden Verhältnissen. Ein kleines Stück Alternative wollen wir auch selbst ausprobieren, indem wir auf der Tour ohne Autos auskommen und hierarchiefrei, selbstbestimmt und solidarisch zusammenleben. Am 2.Juni hoffen wir auf ganz viele Menschen, die Lust auf massenhaftes Radeln haben, durch die Berliner Innenstadt, zum Abschiebeknast Grünau und schliesslich zur Vokü auf dem Kesselberg bei Erkner. Und natürlich freuen wir uns auch über Leute, die weiter mitfahren!
