From Munich on to Heiligendamm!

Munich, 9th to 11th of February: Out on the streets against the NATO war conference! Heiligendamm, Rostock and around, 1st to 8th of July: Block and sink G8!

From the 9th until the 11th of February we will confront the elite of global warfare with our resistance. Because there the representatives of the NATO states and their allies meet at the 43rd Munich Conference on Security Policy (german: Sicherheitskonferenz, short: Siko). In addition, a North Africa and Middle East Finance Conference, held by German financial lobbyist groups, will take place in close coordination with the Siko on Friday, the 9th of February in Munich. The enforcement and military protection of economical interests in these regions will be negotiated there.

There are enough reasons for rage and resistance: The NATO states and their allies are sending armed forces across the world under the pretence of „fighting terror“ and „establishing global security“. They create access to markets and commodities through military force, and thereby secure the neocolonial allocation of the world and the continuity of global capitalism, with all its inherent murderous consequences: NATO forces bomb villages in Afghanistan every day, European and US-owned corporations split oil production rights and construction contracts among each other in the slipstream of the escalating Iraq war, with the explicit approval of Western powers Israeli forces burn Lebanese residential areas to ashes, EU troops operate in Congo, drawing on their colonial tradition, as election aid workers for an authoritarian and corrupt regime.

Especially sexist exploitation, violence and (forced) prostitution escalate wherever the military controls people’s everyday life under conditions of war and occupation. The self-proclaimed pioneers of „freedom“ and „democracy“ create throughout the world zones of extralegality in the form of detention camps, torture prisons and refugee camps: places in which people are subjected to unlimited access by the governmental violence apparatus and are reduced to their „naked life“, without suable rights. But also increasing repression against immigrants and social movements, and the enforcement and acceptance of manifold forms of surveillance and control in everyday life are essential elements of this global war.

It is exactly this kind of repressive „security“ of the ruling class that is discussed year after year at the Munich NATO War Conference by war ministers, generals, members of military think tanks and representatives of the armaments industry. The wars against Yugoslavia, Afghanistan and Iraq were prepared here, the US plans for space weapons were discussed here, plans for an EU strikeforce were presented here, the NATO rapid deployment force was sent on its way here and the global „war against terror“ was coordinated here. It’s about the preagreements and negotiations necessary for military planning, the finding of common interests and of possible conflicts of the military power blocs, especially between the EU and the USA, as well as the role of the NATO alliance in these military structures. Therefore the Siko is not only a place for actual consultations, but also part of the propaganda machinery for global war.

Let’s make a loud and clear statement of resistance against the world order of the war planners, here in Munich, one of the major cities of armaments industry!

Let’s show them they are unwanted here as anywhere else! Who is waging war in the whole world mustn’t feel safe anywhere!

From Genoa to Munich …

was our slogan in 2002 when we brought together the fight against global capitalism and the struggle against war and militarisation in the mobilization against the NATO war conference, following the massive resistance against the G8 summit in Genoa – in the awareness that the policies of privatization, commercialization and exploitation of all palpable commodities are only feasible with military backup and violence. These policies are depriving people everywhere in the world of their livelihood and subjecting all areas of life to the rule of a capitalistic logic of profit first.

Since 2002 the war planners inside the luxury hotel „Bayerischer Hof“ are forced to hide behind a massive contingent of thousands of cops. Since 2002 together we have made sure that the „Security Conference“ couldn’t take place without disturbances and without publicly noticeable dissent. With that in mind this year we say …

from Munich to Heiligendamm, to resist and blockade the G8 summit.

We will be many: activists from the left wing of labour unions, antiracist initiatives, antifacist groups, self-organized immigrant groups, initiatives of unemployed people, social forums, Attac and the autonomous left are already preparing themselves for powerful days of resistance. We will show the illegitimacy of the G8’s power and of the capitalist and patriarchal world order they represent through mass blockades by activists from all parts of the movement. An important factor linking the resistance against the Nato war conference and the anti G8 mobilization is the blockade of the airbase Rostock-Laage.

Not only it has a particular importance for the war plans of the German Bundeswehr and the NATO, because it is the homebase of Eurofighter and Stealth bomber units, but also, in June 2007 many G8 summit participants and heads of government will land there. Military aircrafts will exercise aerial warfare over the „Bombodrom“ area in the nearby Wittstock Heath departing from Rostock-Laage in the future. It is planned to first occupy the „Bombodrom“ area together with activists from the local protest movement ahead of the G8, and to block the arrival of the G8 summit participants in Rostock-Laage on the 5th of June. Because the world dominated by the G8 is a world of wars, poverty and exploitation, a world of global attacks against social and democratic rights, a world of ongoing ecological destruction and a world in which the „war against terror“ is connected to politics of disenfranchisement and torture. All this is not happening despite the policies of the G8, but because of them– the G8’s alibi resolutions about debt relief or the alleged „help for Africa“ can’t belie that.

With our resistance we will show our solidarity with the social and revolutionary movements of the global South. And we will use our presence in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania for actions against inhumane refugee camps, nazi infrastructure, genetically modified fields and military bases. Through the magnitude, diversity and radicality of the participants we will oppose the picture of the eight heads of government of the mightiest economical nations with an approach of global solidarity from below. And attack the „red zones“ of power.
