Declaration of the federal Dissent-meeting on 2-4.3 2007 in Hamburg to the „Violence-debate“ within the G8 coordination- circle (NGO's and Attack)
- 1) The Dissent-meeting accepts different means of actions
- 2) Dissent critisizes statements of individuals with the press concerning peaceful protests, in which they use the term violence in the same way the ruling classes define violence. This happens with the aim to divide the protests and resistance. One example is the following statement of Peter Wahl on the press-conference of the Rostock 2 conference:“We have a democratic preparation-process, all actors, organizations and groups who are part of this process made it clear that they won't use any violence“. It is not acceptable to say statements like this for a broad preparation-process. These kind of decisions or declarations never took place.
- 3) A better world, a goog life can't be accomplished within capiatlism. The showing of another way and the fight for a solidair world needs to be beyond the now dominating hegemonistic rules. Germany claims the monopol of violence for itself. Germany exersizes structural violence: around 50.000 deportations a yera, people are forced to live in camps, people are forced to wage-labour and work for 1 Euro pro hour, German weapons are exported all around the world, German soldiers are serving outside the national borders, German capital dictattes employment-conditions and trade-relationships all around the world; to call only a few examples. Resistance against the system takes many forms. The resistance differs according to campaigns and activists. The fight against deportations in Germany is quite different as the fight of farmers in Southern- Korea or the fights of activists against embankment damin India or from revolutionaries in Chiapas. We are against a division of resistance in peaceful and violent protests, because this kind of division is only of use for the dominating classes in order to divide the resistance. We think it is wrong to distanciate yourself or to order yourself hastily to one part of the broad resistance. Different forms of resistance and countervailing power have its legitimation. Critisisms and valuation should be taken in the context and not globally on the forehand without taken any context in consideration.
For a broad protest with pluaral means of action!
