We turn today with an urgent appeal to all those who during the days of the G8 want to be present together with us on the streets and squares around Heiligendamm

For many months, we have been preparing several camp sites and, hopefully, we have not yet produced all our trumps. In fact, we shall organise places to stay for 15000-20000 people.

Now comes, what we need your support for: we need money for the pre-financing of the camps. By way of donations, the camps should in fact support themselves. Yet, many things, such as insurance, deposits for the lease and down-payments for water and electricity connections must be paid in advance – and for that purpose we need 80000€. In order to support us concretely, there are two possibilities. Ask at groups, initiatives and associations you know whether they can give us money (of course also ask your proverbially rich uncle, your parents, or your own savings account – do we still know what that is?). You may lend us something until the end of the camp, but may of course also make us a gift. A second important possibility is to already transfer the camp contribution (which is voluntary, of course) right now. Bank account details can be found at left side.

If 4000 people did that for instance (who would then come of course and successfully block the summit from Tuesday to Friday, June 5 to 9), there would – given a guideline of 5€s a day – already come together quite a lot. This still sounds optimistic, but… we have set ourselves the deadline of May 18, 2007. Should the money not have come together up to then, we shall need to draw consequences as a camp working group.

In other words, let’s pull ourselves together and come up with your ideas!

We shall tell you one more time in a minute how else you may still support us. Starting on May 19, we shall begin with building up the camps. Ever after, there will be somebody at the school in Evershagen who can “assign” you work. (You will get there taking tramways 1,4 or 5 from Central Station to Thomas Morus Str., which is directly opposite the school). The artisans will always be on the premises at that point, and if you already want to do something real against the G8 masks to start with, that’s when you will have the opportunity.

Other important points to support us are shifts at selling beverages and in our information tents. We claim the monopoly for selling beverages on the camps, meaning that groups who want to sell beverages in their barrio, may do so only after agreement with us and only if these are bought from us. (There will, therefore, be no commercial sale on the camps.) We shall keep the prices as moderate as possible to make this system affordable for everyone. We don’t want groups to make money, however. Only the costs they really incur themselves should be replaced. For our central beverage storage points, we are still looking for very many groups who participate in that task. We shall still write something in the next couple of days on tasks in the information tents.

Once more to conclude: Donate, collect materials, pay your camp contribution (in advance, but naturally also on the camp), and become active, only in that way our dreams will be able to come true.

Yours sincerely

Camp Working Group
