Call out and Consulta
AMPLIFYING RESISTANCE, CREATING ALTERNATIVES
When we are asked by others what is more important -- to
organize global days of actions or fight locally everyday -- we always
reply both. Dissent was originally created with the former in mind: to
enable anti-authoritarian, anti-capitalist groups and individuals to
collectively and directly resist the G8 summit in Scotland and beyond
that to build a bigger and better alternative to the neo-liberal system
that oppresses us and people all over the world. The rush towards the
G8 didn't give us the time to think properly about how the Dissent
network could be useful to our local struggles of the everyday, how
they can best serve the struggle against capitalism, or how the network
could become more representative of the politics, priorities and
activities of all its groups and individuals, current and potential. |

The Dissent network saw thousand of activists come together in July to
create a mobilisation of opposition to the G8 and also the space in
which our idea's for future organisation were realised. Since the G8
there have been many discussions that have focused on the future of our
network, our politics, and priorities. At the last gathering the
overwhelming consensus was to maintain the Dissent network and this
gathering will present the opportunity to solidify our plans and
visions for the future.
In order to facilitate this process, The Matilda Collective would like
to invite all autonomous groups and individuals interested in
discussing the future of Dissent to attend the next gathering
in Sheffield on the Weekend of October 15th/16th

Boogie on the Bridge AKA Ceildh on the Clyde
( a ceildh is a gaelic name for a dance with live music. Boogie means to dance. )
Friday the 8th of July
MEET COMMERCE STREET BRIDGE 2PM
Glasgow
As part of the day of action against the root causes
of climate change on Friday 8th of July, we will be Ceildhing on the Clyde. This is in opposition to the
M74 extension, that will cut through the heart of Glasgow and increase
carbon burning traffic. It is also an expression of solidarity
with people fighting the root causes of climate change everywhere.
Whilst the G8 talk hot air about climate change, come and resist one of
the major causes, oil driven transport. Whilst they fight wars
for the remaining carbon resources come and resist Scotlands newest and
least popular motorway.
Bring Musical Instruments, things to make noise with, banners, toys and what you expect to find. |
