Trauma Gathering
18/19th of June in Oxford
We hope to bring everybody together who wants to be involved in
supporting traumatised activists in whatever way they feel comfortable.
Aim of the gathering will be to organise the trauma support for the G8
(and afterwards).
Contact: activist_trauma@riseup.net, 0044 1865 243 121
Details on the web: www.activist-trauma.net
Please apply early.
Where: Oxford Action Resource Centre (at the East Oxford Community
Centre)
Junction of Cowley Road and Princess Street
When: starting at 10am
Costs: 10 pounds (if you can afford it) - with includes vegan food and
sleeping.
The agenda is still not finalised, since it will depend on what issues
come up during the training.
It will include an introduction on trauma, feedback and skillsharing
from the training..., sorting out logistics for the trauma support in
Scotland, organising longterm support for afterwards, thinking about
building up a support network that continues after the G8..., seeing what
people want to do, have to offer, what ideas are there..., getting to
know each other, making ourselves be comfortable in the group..., looking
into supervision and how to support ourselves...
Please send us any input, ideas, wishes concerning the agenda, a lot of
it will have to be decided anyway depending on what people come up
with.
Until now ideas concerning the G8 include a "chill out" area for people
who come out of prison, medical treatment or just feel troubled / Info
point about Trauma / workshops about how to deal with it and how to
take care of your mates / providing info material / short-term support
in terms of "psychological first aid", offering safe spaces / long-term
support in terms of providing contact to therapists and regular
check-ins.
Hopefully the support network will continue after the G8. |
