This
section of the site is for information on the convergences in
Scotland. Please read below for basic
information.
For more information click on the links in the main menu. If
you
have any convergence news please add it to this news
section.
Practical
Information
If you will be participating in the anti-G8 convergence in Scotland,
more
detailed information about the convergence space will be available here
shortly. In the meantime, read this page,
or click on the
sections below to get the info you need. Most importantly, we need
help, so please visit our wish list and let us
know if you can
definately bring
along any items.
Organise locally into groups, and try to
mobilise
your local
community. Individuals are most welcome at the convergence,
but
organising into small groups, and larger clusters will make the
convergence more worthwhile. A list of existing local groups
can be found here, and you can add
your local group to the list by creating a web-account.
Groups
should try to arrive equipped
to help, and be as self-sufficient as possible.
Please
check out the transport page, under the main menu.
Arrival and
Accomodation in Scotland
Accomodation
is being organised for Edinburgh, Glasgow and a rural convergence
space. The police and media regularly intimidate anyone
offering space to those against the G8, of any political stripe. Do not
be intimidated by this. There is legal accommodation for those who
require it, but perhaps not enough for everybody. Families and those
with other legal concerns will be prioritised with legal places to
stay. There are plenty of other accommodation options. If you
are
arriving
many
weeks in
advance to help set up the convergence space, and want to rent a
room in a house or apartment, we suggest you look in and even place an
advert in one of
the local rags, eg. the
scotsman. Full details on accommodation
options are
available here
For details on the spaces and info points being organised through the Dissent! Network please see the links under the main menu.
As much as possible, try to be
self-sufficient! There is a catering group that is
co-ordinating kitchens from within the movement to come and cook
at the convergence space. You can help by bringing
your own
cutlery, plates, bowls, mugs, and consider forming
mini-kitchens.
If every vehicle coming could bring along a sack of something they were
able to get for free locally, that'd be
great!!! Email anarchisttpot (at) yahoo.co.uk if you and/or
your group can help with food/catering.
