N
o Blood for Oil - No War for Energy
During the G8 summit in Scotland in July, the Dissent! Network is building a huge ‘convergence'
space. It will house, feed and enable thousands of people to meet and conspire in challenging the G8
leaders and the war, environmental destruction, world poverty and climate change that they stand
for.
The Decentralised Energy Committee (DEC) intends to build an exploitation free energy system for the Gleneagles rural convergence space. We intend to use solar and wind electricity generating systems as our primary energy sources, providing power for the basic energy loads on site such as: lighting, amplification, battery recharging and the Independent Media Centre. Our secondary power system will use standard generators burning Biodiesel fuel. Heating water is not a part of the site energy budget but we are hoping to build some of our very own solar water showers.

Autonomous Energy Centre
The rural convergence space will house the Autonomous Energy Centre, which will open it's doors for workshops on renewable energy: solar electric, wind and hydro systems will be covered
with hands-on demonstrations and actual systems. We hope to have a tinker's shop going on-site so any spare tools are welcome. We need 10-kilowatts of Autonomous Energy and We Need Your Help ! We estimate that the rural convergence requires 10 kilowatts generating capacity, [10 kilowatts = 10 000 watts].

The wish list;
  • Solar panels & Wind generators (Any size of panel/generator will do, even if they're broken, maybe we can fix them.)
  • Sponsor a panel or small wind generator (see details at the bottom)
  • Black plastic containers (preferably hard plastic) and/or black hoses
  • Any spare tools for the on-site workshop
  • Donations to the Autonomous Energy Centre are more than welcome; The Dissent Network, (Ref; Autonomous Energy) Cooperative Bank, Sort Code 08-92-99, Account Number 6515 5518, Swift Code CPBKGB22 For international bank transfers quote the IBAN number: GB85 CPBK 0892 9965 1555 18
