Call to host neighborhood's at the Hori-Zone
This is a call out to every group, collective, network, organization
and club interested in building radical decentralized alternatives to
capital, power and ecological collapse. From the 1st to the 9th of July
a part of the Dissent! network is establishing a radical convergence
near Stirling, Scotland. The "Hori-Zone" will operate around a "neighborhood" system, similar to
the "barrio" system used at many resistance camps before. Neighborhoods
will host camping, eating and meeting together and will be the focal point
of decision making on the site. The neighborhoods will be information and
discussion areas to aid communication across the site and beyond.
Many groups are already hosting barrios but more are needed, this is a
genuine program of large scale decision making and autonomy.
You don't need to be a huge group or have loads of equipment to host a
barrio. The neighborhoods should be self running, once people start
arriving. The aim is for each neighborhood to be as autonomous as
possible, with its own kitchen or food serving facilities, alt-tech power
source and meeting space. A neighborhood could also include anything else
you would like to bring, like a library, cinema, crèche or spaceship.
What is asked of hosts is that they facilitate meetings, discussions, and
the distribution of food to 200ish people...
A group of 6 people with little equipment but a commitment to the project
could easily host a neighborhood.
The Dissent! Rural convergence collective will link providers of
resources (such as marquees, water, food and electricity) to groups who
are interested in establishing neighborhoods. Neighborhood hosts will be
decided upon by a consensus decision of the existing neighborhoods.
If you would like to do this or are already doing it, please contact us on dissentconvergence@yahoo.co.uk
To help us match different collectives together please include as much of the following information as possible:
Structures
- how many you will need?
- How big do you want (we arre flexible!)
- how many you can provide (and the size of them)
- whether you can bring any extras
Power sources
- do you have or can you find/borrow any alt-tech power sources (solar
panels, wind generators)
Power needs
- do you plan to run any high energy equipment, if so how may
kilowatts will it use and why do you need to use it.
Lighting
- are you able to bring any lighting for your neighborhood
communal spaces (inside/outside)
Kitchens
- do you have a already have a kitchen linked to your neighborhood
- do you need any kitchen equipment that can form the basis of a

other neighborhoods
Groups which have no kitchen equipment are asked to bring as much food
serving equipment as they can so that they can distribute food from larger
kitchens (IE GET YOURSELVES A FEW BIG POTS). You can host a neighborhood
with out any kitchen equipment.
Seating/Flooring
- do you have access to any seating (chairs or the making
of benches)
- Do you need flooring (old carpets, coconut matting etc?)

We are organizing equipment pick ups from throughout the UK
Is there anything else that would be useful for us to know?
We urge all neighborhood hosts to involve themselves with the set up
process. Set up starts on the 25th of June and the site will be taken down
by the 15th July.
