To
make our convergence space work, we must all participate in its
creation -- with our bodies, and our minds, and also with...well, with
stuff. And time. If you or people you know can help
by
providing items from our wishlist, please contact us. People
with time
and skills are also needed. And of
course donations.

Lots of people are needed to help out with the convergence
spaces
especially people with skills such as electrical, plumbing, health and
safety etc but also people without skills!
Hello to all you handy people. We are in need of people that will help
with SET UP and TAKE DOWN of the HoriZone campsite. We are looking for
50+ people for each case.
SET UP: 25th June - 1st
July
We are calling for all those who are able to come to the Stirling area
to help with setting up the infrastructure for the site. We would be
asking you to join existing site collectives, which are focused on
specific areas of work.
If you think you might be able to help please get in touch on
site_set_up_crew@yahoo.co.uk
Let us know when you will be arriving and any skills you have, if you
have no particular skills we still need you. If you're already coming
to set up a space etc but can still be around to help with other stuff
please contact this email. If you can bring any tools etc that might be
useful let us know.
TAKE DOWN: 9th - 12th
July
If you can't make it up early but can stay around after the summit we
also need people to take down all the structures and infrastructure and
ensuring the site is spotless. We hoped we would have a week
for
this for have resticted time, so all please consider helping with
this.
If you think you may be able to help please email
take_down_crew@yahoo.co.uk Again, let us know when you will be arriving
and how long you can stay and any skills you have. Also let us know if
you can drive or have access to a vehicle, as we will need to be
shipping loads of tat away.
Look forward to seeing
you!
To make the
rural convergence a genuine programme of large scale decision making
and autonomy people are called to host 'neighbourhoods' or
'barrios'. Each neighbourhood will faciliate meetings,
discussions, the distribution of food and feed into the large scale
decision making. For full details
please check out http://www.dissent.org.uk/content/view/218/104/
Call out for art in resistance
to the G8
Help make Hori-Zone look as vibrant as our resistance.
We are calling for art collectives, groups and individuals to bring
imagination, creativity and materials to help make our camp an
inspiring and beautiful place for us all to be.
From gardens to murals, from sculpture to theatre, from pennants to
graff, bring anything that you feel would add to the positive
celebration this site will be. If you can contribute e-mail:
art_installations@yahoo.co.uk
Specific 'Tat' lists
More detailed equipments lists are now appearing for the different
convergence spaces.
This isn't a wish list. It's mostly a list of ESSENTIALS that need to
be brought to the site by the 25th of June. If you can help
or
want to arrange collection of equipment please ring 07910 975003 or
e-mail tat_list@yahoo.co.uk.

We will need masses of transport, as the convergence space is unlikely
to be accessible by public transport. We are asking that all
local groups consider renting
mini-buses for the period
of the convergence, and that they have additional drivers who can help
with tranposrt. Renting a mini-bus is actually a cheap way
for a
group of people to get up to Scotland.
Other items we need include:
- Drivers (regular, and those with a bus
license)
- Buses (large and small)
- Bicycles
- Lifts across
country with equipment

your own would be great

fittings onto UK gas bottles

useful kitchen tat from pans and utensils to tupperware
- any (pref vegan) food donations - bulk veg, grains, mueslis,
oil, ...
- If every vehicle coming could
bring along a sack of something they were able to get for free locally,
that'd be great!!!
- any contacts to suppliers that
might be able to give us larger discounts or free extras, pref.
local
- shedloads of pallets (for food storage and
against bogginess)
- marquees to cook in!
- self-organised kitchens, and cooking crews
SPECIFICS FOOD APPEAL
Getting ready to cook for the masses - but of course,
finding money a problem... so, here's a general appeal
for FOOD DONATIONS.
Anything you can blag/get cheap and bring along would
be of help! What we're looking for is vegan food
staples preferably in bulk, for the rural site (there
will be a 'central food store' all kitchens will be
using on site, which donations should be brought to),
and also for the urban convergences (in Edinburgh: not
the uni, the accomodation one) Here's a bit of a list:
- any vegetables, fruit, fresh herbs.
- soymilk, soybeans, instant soymilk, soymilk making machines (we'll be trying to make soymilk ourselves
because there is no way we will be able to get a
billion litres of soymilk, and we also don't want to
fill a landfill entirely with tetrapacks, but we are
afraid)
- teas and coffees - both teabags and instant, as well
as fresh coffee and loose leaf tea, herbal and black.
- oil, mustard, vinegars, lemon juice, herbs, spices,
yeast extract, all the things that make stuff taste
nice
- sacks of muesli, grains, beans and pulses, sugar,
nuts, seeds, cornflakes
- margerine, peanut butter, fruit spreads, stuff to
put on bread
- things like binbags, (vegan) washing up liquid,
cleaning cloths, etc...
- sundried tomatos, smoked tofu and vegan
chocolate....? anyone?
So bring a sack or box or individual teabag if you
can, much appreciated, see you soon!
ps: anyone with access to really large quantities of
any of the above for cheap/free, get in touch.
